Our thanks to reader Nancy Dorsner, a.k.a. Dot, for concocting the DeepGlamour Cosmotini (and providing the photo to the left, by Flickr's griegatlanta). We agree with her when she writes, "Glamour should be both substance and style. Classic and innovative. A little unexpected." And the DG Cosmotini is both.
Here's the recipe:
Prepare and dye tapioca pearls as instructed here. For purple, either find a purple sugar syrup (mixer), or add food coloring to a simple syrup.
In a shaker with ice, mix 1 1/2 shots of excellent vodka with a 1/2 shot of chambord
Add a spoonful of pearls.
Serve with attitude.
Nancy's prize package includes a copy of Kate Hahn's delightful Forgotten Fashion (excerpted in this early DG post), Joseph Epstein's Fred Astaire
, plus The Substance of Style
and a beautiful 16-page catalog to the retrospective exhibition of George Hurrell's photographs.
All the recipes were enticing. Our thanks to Mycroft, Liz Dubelman (who has her own book coming out soon), Eric, and Tom for their submissions. Each of you will receive a copy of The Substance of Style and the Hurrell catalog. (Mycroft and Eric need to contact us with their addresses.) Cheers, everyone.
